FROM SHORE TO SHORE:
AARON BURR
and THEODOSIA BURR ALSTON
Written and Performed
by LuLu LoLo
This short play depicts the deep relationship Burr had with his daughter, the torment that he felt when she was lost at sea. It is said that Aaron Burr haunts Wall Street and the shoreline of Battery Park and that both Burr and his daughter Theodosia haunt the restaurant “One If By Land and Two If By Sea” (the site of the former Burr carriage house), where Burr’s ghost pulls chairs out from under people and the ghost of Theodosia grabs at women’s earrings. |

This play was developed while LuLu LoLo was a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Writer in Residence. It forms part of a larger work IN THE SHADOWS OF GHOSTLY SIGHTINGS, a series of short one-person plays inspired by the lives of those interred in the Cemeteries of St. Paul's Chapel and Trinity Church in Lower Manhattan and by the life of Aaron Burr. |
